The sale of land under the towers of CUMULUS News-Talk WMAL-A/WASHINGTON in BETHESDA, MD did not include a bid by MONTGOMERY COUNTY, reports the weekly MONTGOMERY SENTINEL.
County Chief Administration Officer TIMOTHY FIRESTINE told the SENTINEL that the potential none figure price tag is "way beyond what we can do. You’re talking about a million per acre, and that’s a big chunk of land. We don’t have the resources to do that.”
The county's decision means that the land will almost certainly go to a developer for use as a housing development rather than green space, which neighbors have requested the county to pursue. Bids were due YESTERDAY (3/12) on the property, being marketed by CBRE GROUP, INC.
