M&M BROADCASTING Country WMYL (MERLE 96.7)/KNOXVILLE has added another longtime market radio vet to its employee roster, with the addition of former WIVK and WCYQ programmer MIKE HAMMOND in a consulting role covering programming and music.
He joins fellow WIVK alum ED BRANTLEY, who last week joined WMYL, also in a consulting role (NET NEWS 3/11).
HAMMOND, a COUNTRY RADIO HALL OF FAMER, stepped away from radio last SEPTEMBER to assume office as KNOX COUNTY, TN Criminal Court Clerk (NET NEWS 5/29),
“MIKE brings four decades of Country music knowledge and relationships from NASHVILLE to KNOXVILLE to MERLE FM,” said MERLE afternoon show host and station partner, JACK RYAN. I'm pleased to have him available on a professional level as well as a personal one.”
The move reunites RYAN and HAMMOND, who previously worked together at WIVK. Additionally, HAMMOND is RYAN’s father.
HAMMOND will continue his duties as the KNOX COUNTY Criminal Court Clerk. "This is my focus each day, and I am proud of what our team has accomplished,” said HAMMOND. “Working with MERLE on the weekends will be another extension of my public service as I work with artists and musicians to give them the chance to have their music heard on the radio.”
In addition to his consulting responsibilities, HAMMOND will host a host a show each SUNDAY called "From NASHVILLE to KNOXVILLE."
Send congrats to HAMMOND here.
