FCC Sets FM Auction 98 For July 23rd

The FCC has scheduled FM Auction 98 for JULY 23rd.  113 new FM allotments will be auctioned, plus 18 construction permits that were offered but not sold or were defaulted upon in prior auctions. 

Among the allotments with the highest opening bids will be channels at COLUMBIA, MO (Class C2, $75,000);  MAYSVILLE, GA (Class A, $75,000, near GAINESVILLE, GA northeast of ATLANTA); LONGVIEW, TX (Class C2, $75,000); TOQUERVILLE, UT (Class C, $75,000, northeast of ST. GEORGE along I-15); COTTONWOOD, CA (Class A, $60,000, along I-5 near REDDING, CA); SHASTA LAKE, CA (Class A, $60,000, also along I-5 near REDDING); ENGLEWOOD, TN (Class A, $60,000, between CHATTANOOGA and KNOXVILLE); HAWLEY, TX (Class A, $60,000, north of ABILENE); and MOODY, TX  (Class A, $60,000, between WACO and TEMPLE).

A immediate freeze has been placed on all FM applications proposing to modify or change any of the vacant Auction 98 allotments, and applications, petitions and counterproposals that fail to fully protect any Auction 98 allotment.
