First Ventures Sells Two Translators

FIRST VENTURES CAPITAL PARTNERS, INC. is selling K227BN/BRAWLEY, CA to ST. JPII EDUCATIONAL MEDIA, INC. for $15,000.  The station will rebroadcast KCJP-LP/EL CENTRO.

FIRST VENTURES CAPITAL PARTNERS, INC. is also selling K277BB/PLAINVIEW, TX to CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES OF THE VALLEY, INC. for $10,000. 

In other filings with the FCC, NORTH FACE BROADCASTING LLC has closed on the swap of Classic Hits KCIJ (106.5 THE FOX)/ATLANTA-NACHITOCHES, LA to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION for K222AO/NATCHITOCHES, LA plus $142,000.

And CSN INTERNATIONAL has closed on the sale of W236CG/BOLINGBROOK, IL and W236CF/HOMEWOOD, IL to WINDY CITY BROADCASTING, LLC for $150,000.

ST. FRANCIS HIGH SCHOOL OF MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, INC. has had its license renewal application for noncommercial KSFH/MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA reinstated after it inadvertently turned in the license for cancellation last JUNE.  The station is being sold to MOUNTAIN VIEW PUBLIC BROADCASTING for $20,000; KSFH is one of only two licensed FM radio stations at 87.9 FM (the other is a translator in NEVADA).

And ELECTRON BENDERS has been granted a construction permit for a new Low Power FM  at TULSA, OK.

Would-Be Buyers Try To Resurrect Cancelled KTDK/Dallas License

A settlement between WHITLEY MEDIA, LLC, NORTH TEXAS RADIO GROUP, L.P., and FIRST IV MEDIA, INC. intended to get the license for KTDK/SANGER-DALLAS, TX reinstated has been filed with the FCC.  The settlement proposes to have NORTH TEXAS and FIRST IV create a partnership to acquire the station, with FIRST IV withdrawing its opposition to WHITLEY and NORTH TEXAS' Petition for Reconsideration of the license cancellation.

A proposed assignment of the license by CUMULUS' SUSQUEHANNA RADIO CORP. to MEDIA SERVICES GROUP broker BILL WHITLEY's WHITLEY MEDIA, LLC denied as being, in the Commission's view, a brokerage agreement rather than a transfer of control; the Commission dismissed the transfer application as "inadvertently accepted for filing."  CUMULUS then did a deal to LMA crosstown Sports KESN (ESPN DALLAS 103.3 FM) from ESPN, moved its FM simulcast of Sports KTCK-A (THE TICKET) from KTDK to the former WBAP-F, and turned in the KTDK license for cancellation.  WHITLEY appealed the license cancellation, saying he had a deal with NORTH TEXAS RADIO GROUP, L.P. for the latter to buy the signal, but the Commission ruled that neither he nor NORTH TEXAS had standing in the case and could not force CUMULUS/SUSQUEHANNA to reacquire the license.  

The present settlement would require the FCC to let FIRST IV withdraw its opposition to the reinstatement and transfer, grant WHITLEY and NORTH TEXAS standing to intervene in the license cancellation, reinstate the license to SUSQUEHANNA with a temporary waiver to allow it to exceed ownership caps, and approve the transfer to WHITLEY, allowing the new partnership to cut a deal to buy the station.
