COREY CALHOUN has been tapped to join iHEARTMEDIA Country WAMZ/LOUISVILLE for APD/afternoon drive, effective immediately. The afternoon-drive slot was left vacant when station veteran COYOTE CALHOUN announced his retirement from WAMZ after 35 years (NET NEWS 7/15/2014).
"COREY has big shoes to fill, but we are thrilled to welcome him to the WAMZ staff and LOUISVILLE," said WAMZ PD MICHAEL JORDAN. "COREY's energy and enthusiasm is contagious, he is a great addition to the WAMZ team and will be a big help to me as the APD."
The newest CALHOUN -- who is unrelated to his predecessor -- graduated with a degree in communications from KENNESAW STATE UNIVERSITY in GEORGIA and has career stops that include time in ATLANTA, GA; ITHACA, NY; BRUNSWICK, GA; and LEXINGTON, KY. He will host the MONDAY through SATURDAY shows from 3p to 7p (ET) for WAMZ and will also handle APD duties for the station.
"What an amazing opportunity this is, I'm still pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming!" remarked CALHOUN. "To be a part of a station with such an impressive history and to follow in the footsteps of a legend like COYOTE, is what you work for your entire career. Huge thank you to MICHAEL JORDAN, KELLY CARLS and BILL GENTRY for giving me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Congratulate CALHOUN here.
