ALL ACCESS hears that NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO will undergo changes in its music programming with rival public radio programmer AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA taking over production of NPR's "PERFORMANCE TODAY" and "SYMPHONYCAST" shows and striking a tentative deal to participate in NPR's digital music service set for a 2007 launch. The changes will take effect in the first quarter of 2007, ALL ACCESS has learned, with the digital music service remaining based at NPR and 11 staff positions at the two shows being eliminated as production heads to APM's ST. PAUL headquarters no earlier than JANUARY 12. Staffers who lose their jobs will be offered preferential consideration for openings at NPR and will be considered for jobs at APM.
