QC COMMUNICATIONS Urban WJKS (KISS 101.7)/CANTON-SALEM, NJ was acquired by DELMARVA BROADCASTING CO. in DECEMBER. Beginning THURSDAY (4/2), the new owners will flip the format and simulcast News-Talk WDEL-A/WILMINGTON, DE. (NET NEWS 3/26).
KISS PD MELLIE MELL told ALL ACCESS, "There is a trick to the graceful exit. It begins with the vision to recognize when a job, a life stage, a relationship is over -- and to let go. It means leaving what's over without denying its value. And I definitely cannot deny the value in the 18 years of experience I've had with QC COMMUNICATIONS. I just want to say thank you to my staff for growing and glowing under my regime. I know that you all have the skills to do great things. In life change is inevitable, so I am looking at this exit as a hello to new opportunities. My bio, aircheck/demo, resume, and e-mail can be found at melliemel1017@gmail.com."
QC GM STEVEN CHANIN added, "It's been my pleasure to work with MEL as the PD for KISS. He always put the station first and was a great source of new ideas for what we could do better. As our PM-drive personality, he pulled in the best ratings we've had and his music selections generated lots of listener excitement and excellent ratings."
