Former NHL defenseman and current ARIZONA COYOTES radio analyst NICK BOYNTON was not present for a pretrial conference WEDNESDAY (4/1) on charges that he fought with police and bit one officer on the finger in a drunken scuffle last week at the SENECA BUFFALO CREEK CASINO near BUFFALO, NY (NET NEWS 3/26).
The BUFFALO NEWS reports that BOYNTON's attorney KEITH B. SCHULEFAND told Judge JAHARR PRIDGEN that BOYNTON was a no-show because he began rehab TUESDAY in SCOTTSDALE and asked for BOYNTON to be excused; PRIDGEN waived BOYNTON's appearance but said that he must show up for the next hearing on MAY 8th or she will issue a warrant for his arrest.
BOYNTON is on a leave of absence from the COYOTES radio network after the incident; he faces misdemeanor charges of assault, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, obstruction of governmental administration, harassment, and disorderly conduct.
