The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS EDUCATION FOUNDATION (NABEF) has announced the winners of its 2015 Celebration of Service to AMERICA Awards, to be honored at a dinner in WASHINGTON on JUNE 16th.
NABEF Pres. MARCELLUS ALEXANDER said, “Broadcasters have an unwavering commitment to serving the public. This year’s winners clearly provide local impact and are an integral part of the fabric of their communities.”
This year's winners are:
PRESIDENT'S SPECIAL AWARD: iHEARTMEDIA's "Show Your Stripes" PSA campaign to help veterans get jobs upon their return to civilian life.
SERVICE TO AMERICA TELEVISION AWARD: GANNETT NBC affiliate KING-TV/SEATTLE
SERVICE TO CHILDREN AWARDS: Radio: iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk KEX-A/PORTLAND's "KEX Kids Fund"; Television: IDEASTREAM PBS affiliate WVIZ-TV/CLEVELAND's nonprofit organization to combat high school dropout rates.
SERVICE TO COMMUNITY AWARDS: Radio: CBS RADIO News-Talk WCCO-A/MINNEAPOLIS' campaigns against hunger; Television: CAPITOL BROADCASTING CO. CBS affiliate WRAL-TV and FOX affiliate WRAZ-TV/RALEIGH-DURHAM's "eNOugh NC" anti-domestic violence initiative.
