CUMULUS has expanded two ALABAMA talk show hosts' coverage by making their shows multi-market, effective MONDAY (4/6).
News-Talk WAPI-A/BIRMINGHAM midday host MATT MURPHY is now heard on sister News-Talk WLWI-A/MONTGOMERY and WVNN/HUNTSVILLE. MURPHY is now heard on all three stations 9-11a, and locally in BIRMINGHAM 11a-1p as well. MURPHY, who began his career in MONTGOMERY and hosted in HUNTSVILLE for five years, said, “I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve wanted to expand to every corner of ALABAMA for several years now, and this goes a long way in doing just that. My goal is to give every person in the state who cares about ALABAMA the opportunity to tune in. I’m also thrilled to get back into HUNTSVILLE and MONTGOMERY. I’m sure I’ll hear from old friends in those markets.”
WVNN morning host DALE JACKSON, who has been doing a separate midday show on WAPI for the last year, is now hosting mornings on both stations 5-9a. JACKSON said, "I look forward to talking to people all over the state. There is so much to talk about in ALABAMA and this allows us to reach more people everyday.”
RVP JOHN WALKER added, "CUMULUS is pleased to announce these changes to our News/Talk product in ALABAMA," which he said was timed "to give us an opportunity to expand our live and local footprint in all three markets and simultaneously expose these two great hosts to more News/Talk listeners was a no brainer. I’m excited not only for our informed listening audience, but also our terrific group of advertisers. Both made this a reality.”
