DJ Laz Cleared In Boating Accident Death

COX MEDIA GROUP Top 40 WFLC (HITS 97.3)/MIAMI wakeup star LAZARO “DJ LAZ” MENDEZ will not be charged by prosecutors for his involvement in a boating accident that killed a man, according to his attorney.

In MAY of last year (NET NEWS 5/6/14), ALL ACCESS reported MENDEZ was involved in a boating incident on SUNDAY (5/4/14) that left one man dead. DJ LAZ' boat had gotten stuck on a sandbar and the man, identified as ERNESTO HERNANDEZ, was trying to help LAZ and his party get the boat off of the sandbar when he was caught in one of the propellers.

CBS/MIAMI reports, "The medical examiner listed his cause of death as 'multiple chop wounds'. Investigators worked to determine if alcohol, carelessness or recklessness played a role. But investigators at the scene reportedly observed 'no blood shot eyes, slurred speech or unsteady movement' from MENDEZ."

MENDEZ, in a statement YESTERDAY, said, “My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the HERNANDEZ family as they continue to heal from the loss of ERNESTO from the sad, tragic day.”
