FERRIS, the video-sharing app created by a team including AUSTIN radio personality J.B. HAGER, has secured $2 million in funding from L.A. venture capital firms UPFRONT VENTURES and ALLEN DeBEVOISE, according to a report in AUSTIN BUSINESS JOURNAL.
The app merges different videos from the same occasion such as weddings, concerts, sporting events and more based on location and other information. The L.A.-based company was founded in 2013 after two years of development work.
FERRIS is the second startup for HAGER, who also runs the ON AIRSTREAMING live music video series that features artists performing intimate sets in an AIRSTREAM trailer. That company recently signed a content deal with YAHOO!.
HAGER hosts the "JB in the Morning Show" on AUSTIN RADIO NETWORK Classic Rock CLASSIC 105.3 (KOKE-2-from the translator K287FG), which recently flipped from Alternative-leaning THE FRINGE (NET NEWS, 3/5)
