Condolences to family and friends of longtime CBC journalist JOAN DONALDSON, who died in VICTORIA, BC on THURSDAY night at 60. DONALDSON started in the news departments at CHUM-F and the old CKEY-A/TORONTO, joining the CBC as a radio news editor in 1967 before moving to reporting and producing for CBC TV and radio. She also spent five years with CTV and taught at RYERSON UNIVERSITY and the UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN ONTARIO before returning to the CBC to help launch the company's NEWSWORLD cable channel. DONALDSON's career ended due to brain injuries suffered in 1990 when a bicyclist hit her outside the CNC's MONTREAL building, and she was a paraplegic for the rest of her life.
