A meeting of the foundation that runs noncommercial Variety KUSP/SANTA CRUZ, CA is set for TONIGHT at 6p (PT) to vote on whether to sell the station to the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.
The SANTA CRUZ SENTINEL reports that the station is facing bankruptcy with over $280,000 in loan debt and $435,000 in deferred payments due to NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO. The PATAPHYSICAL BROADCASTING FOUNDATION's annual meeting will take place at the JACK AND PEGGY BASKIN CENTER FOR PHILANTHROPY - COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SANTA CRUZ COUNTY in APTOS.
USC would acquire the station to add to its growing CLASSICAL PUBLIC RADIO NETWORK, based at Classical KUSC/LOS ANGELES. If the deal is not approved, KUSP would look to possibly partner with SANTA MONICA COLLEGE noncommercial Triple A KCRW/SANTA MONICA-LOS ANGELES, which KUSP's board previously considered, or CAL STATE-MONTEREY BAY's KAZU/SEASIDE-MONTEREY.
