MOTHER'S DAY is right around the corner and this past SATURDAY (5/2), iHEARTMEDIA Top 40/Adult WDVI (100.5 THE DRIVE)/ROCHESTER held its first ever "Tough As A Mother" competition.
Now, to help provide mom with a day off you need a proper 'stunt double,' right? So, morning host BILL MORAN asked area mothers if their husband/partner/baby daddy had the skills to fill in for them, and if so, to nominate them on the station's website. Each morning, one lucky couple was chosen to compete in the challenge -- held at the local YMCA. Dad had to complete the challenges with mom as the coach! First-place winner got tickets and meet/greet passes for an upcoming ED SHEERAN concert. The station also gave away spa packages and dinners to the other contestants.
"Each challenge is what made the contest great" said PD TIAS SCHUSTER. Those five challenges were the 'Mom Balance,' where dad had to don a dress and wig, carry a baby doll while holding a phone with his neck and balancing an egg on spoon while walking for 50 feet. 'Household Chores" had them folding a fitted sheet properly (ended up being the toughest challenge). 'Manage The Mom Bag' required the men to locate three specific items among a mom bag filled with stuff. #4 'Table Setting' and #5 'Homework,' where they had to correctly answer a third-grade word problem.
SCHUSTER himself put on the wig and dress (cutting a rather striking figure we should add) to demonstrate challenge #1 and we thank him for being brave enough to send us a picture. Click here to see scoped-down version of the fun.
