NIELSEN MEDIA RESEARCH may throw its hat into the radio ratings ring, with a spokeswoman for the company saying that NIELSEN is "in discussions with the evaluation team (of radio companies, led by CLEAR CHANNEL, reviewing new ratings technology) to see whether it makes sense for Nielsen to enter the measurement of radio." ARBITRON's Personal People Meter and THE MEDIA AUDIT/IPSOS' smartphone-based system are being considered by the CLEAR CHANNEL consortium while CBS RADIO has agreed to use ARBITRON's PPM.
