Morris Day, Real Estate, Ariel Pink Head Lineup At Santa Monica Pier's Free 'Twilight Concert Series'

THE TWILIGHT CONCERT SERIES returns for its 31st season with TRUECAR, INC.. as its presenting partner. The free concert series will take place at the SANTA MONICA PIER every THURSDAY from JULY 9th through SEPTEMBER 10th.

This year's eclectic lineup kicks off JULY 9th MINNEAPOLIS old-school funkmeisters MORRIS DAY & THE TIME and STONES THROW RECORDS artist DAM FUNK. Additional shows in JULY will feature indie darlings REAL ESTATE and quickly rising band HIPPO CAMPUS on JULY 16th; CUBAN greats ¡CUBANISMO! on JULY 23rd; OKLAHOMA singer JD McPHERSON, who was recently profiled by ROLLING STONE, and SARAH GAYLE MEECH on JULY 30tt.

AUGUST kicks off with the annual AUSTRALIA ROCKS THE PIER show on AUGUST 6th; look for the lineup to be announced shortly. JAMAICAN dancehall/reggae stars SISTER NANCY and JESSE ROYAL will take the stage on AUGUST 13th; ARIEL PINK will headline the AUGUST 20th show and rock legends JEFFERSON STARSHIP will be joined by local rock band PURPLE MOUNTAINS MAJESTIES on AUGUST 27th. The series wraps in SEPTEMBER with a headline show from NEW ORLEANS' REBIRTH BRASS BAND and support from MILES MOSLEY AND THE WEST COAST GET DOWN on SEPTEMBER 3RD, with additions to the lineup to be announced in the coming weeks.

The SERIES' presenting partner is SILICON VALLEY trend-setter TRUECAR, creator of the hassle-free car-buying marketplace. THE TWILIGHT CONCERT SERIES will also partner with public radio station KCRW and iHEARTMEDIA Alternative WKSR-F (ALT 98.7)/LOS ANGELES. The concerts are part of KCRW's free, al- ages SUMMER NIGHTS series and KCRW DJs will serve as hosts for many of the evenings.
