The NAB's President/CEO DAVID K. REHR has written SENATE COMMERCE COMMITTEE Chairman TED STEVENS (R-AK) expressing the NAB's support for the renomination of FCC Chairman KEVIN MARTIN and the nomination of Acting Assistant Commerce Secretary for Communications and Information JOHN KNEUER as NTIA Director.
REHR's letter of recommendation tells STEVENS that "(b)roadcasters applaud the great job and balanced approach that the Chairman has taken on public policy regulatory issues. Chairman MARTIN deserves all of our thanks and support for his in-depth understanding of complex issues and his ability to communicate those issues to the American people. We also greatly appreciate his ability to work with industry."
On KNEUER, REHR says that the nominee "has already exhibited a strong and steady presence at NTIA. In advising the Administration on telecommunications policy matters, he has proven that he can do the job and do it very well. Members of the NAB staff have a long-standing relationship with Mr. KNEUER, and are impressed with his agency’s accomplishments to date."
