The AMERICAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION is soliciting funds so it can buy a broadcast radio station in WASHINGTON, DC, reports PINK NEWS.
The fundraising effort notes that the AFA has spent over $1 million already on the effort to buy a station to air AMERICAN FAMILY RADIO programming in the capital, but needs up to $2 million for the project. The fundraiser is scheduled to run though the end of JULY.
The AFA is known for its campaigning on behalf of conservative Christian social positions, including opposition to gay marriage, broadcast "indecency," and activism against radio and television programming it deems to be against its interpretation of Christian beliefs; a WASHINGTON station would offer broadcast access to federal government officials. The TUPELO, MS-based organization airs its radio programming on over 160 stations.
