SANTA MONICA COMMUNITY COLLEGE Non-Comm KCRW (89.9)/LOS ANGELES will once again host the 16th annual LATIN ALTERNATIVE MUSIC CONFERENCE in NEW YORK CITY, JULY 7th-11th.
KCRW DJ RAUL CAMPOS will serve as the official LAMC host for the eight year and will broadcast highlights from the festival on his show JULY 10th-11th, with the last hour (5-6p PT) dedicated to LAMC and his LATIN music discoveries.
CAMPOS will also MC major LAMC events including CELEBRATE BROOKLYN at PROSPECT PARK, as well as the LAMC CENTRAL PARK SUMMERSTAGE free concerts. This year's conference is, once again, bringing the best in LATIN alternative music," CAMPOS said. "I am particularly looking forward to seeing live sets from COMPASS (MIS and TOY SELECTAH), ASTRO, MR. PAUER, CECI BASTIDA, XIMENA SARINANA and NO TE VA GUSTAR. It’s going to be a great five days of music.
“Add the vitality and energy of NEW YORK CITY, to the beauty of outdoor venues like CENTRALP ARK and PROSPECT PARK, as well as the caliber of artistry from this year’s LAMC lineup and you simply can’t go wrong."
In LOS ANGELES, KCRW will spotlight new LATIN music by offering free daily song downloads of LAMC artists as part of TODAY'S TOP TUNE from JULY 6th-10th, including BUSCABULLA, CENTAVRVS, XIMENA SARINANA, PEDRINA Y RIO and GEPE.
CAPOS will visit MORNING BECOMES ECLECTIC on MONDAY, JULY 13th to recap the week’s highlights from the festival.
KCRW blogger JOSE GALVAN will also feature some of his favorite bands from the wide-reaching genre as part of the PAN CALIENTE series.
Past LAMC conferences averaged more than 1,250 attendees and 25,000 concert fans.
