MICHELE BLOCK-RHOADES has been hired by AMERICANA MUSIC ASSOCIATION (AMA) Exec. Dir. JED HILLY to handle Radio Development for the organization. BLOCK-RHOADES will manage the Americana Airplay Chart and focus on expanding relationships with existing radio stations as well as develop relationships with potential new radio stations to bring them on board. She previously did promotion and marketing for ARISTA, COLUMBIA and EMI RECORDS. BLOCK-RHOADES can be reached at m.rhoades@americanamusic.org.
In related AMA news, NASH COUNTRY WEEKLY (formerly COUNTRY WEEKLY) is now publishing the Americana Airplay Chart in its magazine. "We are excited to have our chart included in the premier edition of NASH COUNTRY WEEKLY," said HILLY. "It's a fantastic contrast to the mainstream commercial names you will see on other charts ... as the Americana Airplay Chart represents a diverse array of American roots music styles." Integrating select tastemaker stations and programs from the terrestrial, satellite, and internet radio landscape, the AMA has increased its reporting stations from 46 to 79 in the past few months.
