N.Y. Times Plans Sale Of TV Stations

The NEW YORK TIMES CO. intends to sell its nine TV stations in order to focus on its publishing and digital business. In the announcement of the planned sale of the broadcast group, the company did not mention its two radio stations, Classical WQXR/NEW YORK and RADIO DISNEY affiliate WQEW-A/NEW YORK (LMAd to ABC).
On the block are NBC affiliates WHO-TV/DES MOINES and KFOR-TV/OKLAHOMA CITY, CBS affiliates KFSM-TV/FT. SMITH, AR, WHNT-TV/HUNTSVILLE, WREG-TV/MEMPHIS, and WTKR-TV/NORFOLK, ABC affiliates WNEP-TV/SCRANTON and WQAD-TV/QUAD CITIES, IA-IL, and MY NETWORK TV affiliate KAUT-TV/OKLAHOMA CITY. GOLDMAN SACHS is advising the TIMES on the sale.
