Randy Weston, Jason Moran, Kenny Barron To Be Honored At Jazz Journalists Association Bash

The JAZZ JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION will celebrate its 2015 LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN JAZZ honoree RANDY WESTON, Musician of the Year JASON MORAN and multi-award-winning pianist KENNY BARRON -- along with women in jazz and jazz's ties to AFRICA -- at its annual JAZZ AWARDS party at NEW YORK's famed BLUE NOTE (131 W. 3rd St.) on JUNE 16th.

WESTON will perform a piano solo, the WEST AFRICAN FULA FLUTE will play an introductory fanfare, ANTOINETTE MONTAGUE will sing accompanied by DANNY MIXON and bassist MIMI JONES' QUINTET will present a short set. ANGELIKA BEENER, writer and radio producer, and LINDA YOHN, music director of WEMU will be onstage MCs. Tickets to the general public are still available at goo.gl/fiypbV.

Winners of JJA JAZZ AWARDS for journalism and media will be announced at the party. Winners of musical categories of the Jazz Awards were announced in APRIL, and are posted at www.jjajazzawards.org/p/2015.html.

Reserved seats are $125, general admission is $75, tickets for JJA Awards nominees and JJA members are $50.
