Legendary on-air personality THE REAL DON STEELE is making a posthumous return to the airwaves, with M.G. KELLY relaunching the legendary LOS ANGELES radio personality's 1987-1994 syndicated series, "LIVE FROM THE '60S," starting AUGUST 1st. STEELE passed away in 1997.
STEELE and KELLY first teamed up in 1987 for the series, which ran for nearly seven years on over 200 radio stations. The three-hour weekly program sought to bring theatre of the mind back to radio as STEELE time traveled back to the Golden Age Of AM Radio.
The re-launched "Live From The '60s With The Real DON STEELE" features digitized versions of the original masters created over 25 years ago, distributed by M.G. KELLY PRODUCTIONS.
KELLY said, “This program promises to be a real treat for Classic Hits and Oldies stations as we focus on the pop hits of the latter ‘60s, from 1964 to 1969. The REAL DON STEELE was a master in making every hit song sound like you were hearing it for the first time and his one-of-a-kind delivery is timeless while recreating the sound of ‘60s Top 40 radio like no one else can.”
DON's widow SHAUNE STEELE added, “I am so proud to be relaunching ‘Live From The ‘60s’ along with M.G. KELLY. Hearing the love of my life on the radio again is such a joy.”
