ELTON JOHN, DR, DREM PHARRELL WILLIAMS, DRAKE, JOSH HOMME, ST. VINCENT, JADEN SMITH and DISCLOSURE are just some of the names of celebrities who will have their own radio shows on APPLE MUSIC's BEATS 1 radio station when it launches JUNE 30th.
Yesterday, the NEW YORK TIMES published a profile of BBC's ZANE LOWE, who will be the lead voice of the free online radio station, revealing many of the details of the rollout.
Aside from LOWE in L.A., BEATS 1 will have two other primary presenters, including HOT 97 radio vet EBRO DARDEN in NEW YORK and JULIE ADENUGA in LONDON. The service was reportedly the brainchild of TRENT REZNOR, who has been very hands-on with its development.
"ELTON JOHN's Rocket Hour" and DR. DRE'S "The Pharmacy" will play old and new music, while the station already has lined up an exclusive LOWE interview with EMINEM for its first week on air. LOWE posted on INSTAGRAM a photo of himself with the rapper.
Other stars involved with the BEATS 1 launch are JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and actress/model CARA DELEVINGNE, who were seen alongside PHARRELL WILLIAMS in a video posted by LOWE on INSTAGRAM.
WILLIAMS' "Freedom" will be included as the first exclusive track on the launch of APPLE MUSIC the same day.
