Troy Hanson Named PD At WKQX/Chicago

CUMULUS MEDIA Corporate PD/Rock Formats TROY HANSON has added duties as PD at Alternative WKQX/CHICAGO replacing PJ KLING. HANSON has been serving as Corporate PD as well as PD at Rock WNNX (ROCK 100.5)/ATLANTA since 2014 after a stint as OM at THE CROMWELL GROUP at NASHVILLE.

CUMULUS SVP/Content and Programming MIKE MCVAY said, “TROY continues to do an excellent job (as) Corporate PD/Rock for CUMULUS. His experience, combined with the need for WKQX to continue to excel, makes him the perfect candidate for this position.”

CUMULUS CHICAGO VP/Market Manager PETER BOWEN said,“We are very fortunate to have someone like TROY leading the charge at WKQX. His experience and leadership will only build upon our brand position and ratings success moving forward.”

HANSON succeeds PJ KLING, who departs voluntarily and will remain in the building until JULY 15th to help in the transition. He will be pursuing interests both in and outside of radio.

"I’ve had the opportunity to build a station from the ground up using philosophies that I believed in to my core that in many ways were different from “how we’ve always done it” in this industry, something you rarely get to do anymore. That includes hiring a staff of amazing people that I will miss dearly, and whom I will remain friends with long after we all stop working together. All credit to MERLIN for beginning that, and to CUMULUS for the opportunity to continue it.
