RTDNA/Hofstra Study: Radio Newsroom Salaries Down 4.1%

The annual RADIO TELEVISION DIGITAL NEWS ASSOCIATION/HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY newsroom survey's latest release looks at newsroom salaries and finds average radio salaries slipping 4.1% while TV salaries were up 1.9%.

For radio, news directors averaged $42,400 per year, with reporters at $38.100, producers at $35,000, anchors at $47,100, sports anchors at $33.100, sports reporters at $30,700, and web producer/editors at $42,000.  Average starting pay dropped over $1,000 from last year to $26,800, with the medial off $3,000 to $25,000.  Most radio newsroom employees remain not subject to contracts or non-competes.
