Report: Cash Money Sues Tidal Over Lil' Wayne Album

Cash Money Seeks $50 Million

The feud between CASH MONEY and LIL WAYNE is about to spill over into the courtroom. The label is suing JAY Z's TIDAL streaming service for $50 million, claiming it has no right to host LIL WAYNE"s "Free Weezy Album," which hit the platform on JULY 4th, TMZ reports.

According to the suit, CASH MONEY claims the exclusive rights to WAYNE's music and his contract refuses him the right to license his music to other parties. TIDAL insists the rapper offered the album exclusively in exchange for a stake in the company.

The  lawsuit calls TIDAL's partnership with LIL WAYNE "a desperate and illegal attempt to save their struggling streaming service." The suit insists the album received "tepid reviews" and could hurt the label's attempts to promote the rapper's music.

JIMMY CARLTON WINFREY, an associate of label co-owner BRYAN "BIRDMAN" WILLIAMS and rapper YOUNG THUG, was just indicted by the state of GEORGIA for shooting at LIL WAYNE's tour bus in APRIL. The 30-count indictment identifies WINFREY, YOUNG THUG, BIRDMAN and WAYNE as BLOOD gang members.

WAYNE, who has been signed to CASH MONEY since he was a teen, and BIRDMAN have been feuding since the former took to Twitter late last year and blasted the label for refusing to release "The Carter V."  Last JANUARY, LIL WAYNE sued CASH MONEY for $51 million, in an attempt to break his contract  and gain joint rights to the music he released through his YOUNG MONEY imprint.
