UK radio regulator OFCOM has granted a new FM license to serve BRISTOL to CANADA's CANWEST GLOBAL, which proposed a new AAA "ORIGINAL 106FM," targeting 40-59 year olds. CANWEST, which became the first foreign company to win the bidding for a new radio license when it won the SOLENT FM license last year, beat out GCAP MEDIA, UTV, and three others for the BRISTOL license.
In addition, OFCOM awarded a new FM in EXETER to the EXETER FM partnership of LONDON MEDIA CO. and RIVERSIDE RADIO.
