INDIANAPOLIS now has a third Country station, as iHEARTMEDIA flipped just-purchased WRDZ on FRIDAY afternoon (7/17) at 4p (ET), launching as WUBG (INDY's NEW HIT COUNTRY, BIG 98-3) with a promise of 10,000 commercial-free songs in a row. PREMIERE's syndicated "THE BOBBY BONES SHOW" is set to debut in mornings upon completion of the commercial-free launch. Middays are now being handled by BOB DELMONT, with CARSON in afternoons.
"We are thrilled to add BIG 98-3 to our stable of heritage brands in INDIANAPOLIS," said iHEARTMEDIA SVPP ROB CRESSMAN, who oversees the INDY cluster and is serving as WUBG PD. "Our approach to delivering contemporary Country has been hand-crafted for INDY music fans, and their response has been overwhelmingly positive."
The move had been rumored since iHEART announced its acquisition of 'RDZ from RADIO DISNEY in MAY (NET NEWS 5/29); it became official just hours after the deal closed on FRIDAY. BIG 98-3 joins EMMIS’ WLHK and CUMULUS' WFMS in the market's Country arena. Stream BIG 98-3 here.
