After nearly 20 years, Top 40/Rhythmic KKFR (POWER 92.3)/PHOENIX has moved to 98.3. In MAY 2006, EMMIS sold KKFR to BONNEVILLE. In JUNE 2006, BONNEVILLE sold the intellectual property of KKFR to RIVIERA BROADCASTING. RIVIERA bought KKLD outside PHOENIX with plans to move KKFR's format to KKLD's 98.3 frequency.
Today (9/15), Hip-Hop has a new home in PHOENIX as KKFR settles in as POWER 98.3. KKFR's on-air staff is intact with THE NUTZ, KARLIE HUSTLE, JX3, SANDRA PENA and MELISSA THE MIDNIGHT MAMACITA all making the move. PD BRUCE ST. JAMES continues to lead POWER along with Marketing Dir. CHARLIE HUERO, APD KARLIE HUSTLE and MD MICHAEL "MIKEE MIKE" COQUIA.
In a press release, POWER 98.3 PD BRUCE ST. JAMES commented, "POWER 98.3 is the #1 most listened to radio station in ARIZONA according to the lastest ARBITRON ratings with over 460,000 listeners per week! We will deliver what has made us #1 with, great music, great talent, and great promotions." ST. JAMES added, "POWER 92 has been a heritage radio station in the Valley for many years. It is exciting to continue this brand on POWER 98.3."
