Major changes at CBS RADIO today, as DAVID YADGAROFF is named SVP/Market Manager in PHILADELPHIA; BOSTON SVP/Market Manager MARK HANNON adds similar duties in HARTFORD, CT; STEVE CARVER is named SVP/Market Manger of the MIAMI and ORLANDO clusters; VP/Dir./Sales TONY PERLONGO is upped to SVP/Market Manager and Dir./Sales of the LAS VEGAS cluster; and RIVERSIDE VP/Dir./Sales MIKE VALENZUELA is upped to SVP/Market Manager and Dir./Sales for the cluster.
Also, HARTFORD SVP/Market Manager SUZANNE MCDONALD is retiring; while SVP/Market Managers JOE BELL (MIAMI), DAVE ROBBINS (ORLANDO), and JERRY MCKENNA (LAS VEGAS) are leaving the company.
YADGAROFF previously served as VP/GM of KYW-A, WPHT-A and the former WYSP, and most recently was GSM of KYW-A. He starts in his new role on MONDAY, AUGUST 3rd.
MCDONALD is leaving the business after 45 years with CBS RADIO. "SUZANNE has been contemplating this decision for some time and is eagerly anticipating this next chapter of her life," COO SCOTT HERMAN told the staff in an in-house memo. "We are sad to see SUZANNE go, but are fortunate to have worked with someone of such integrity and professionalism. As HARTFORD’s leader for more than two decades, Suzanne has presided over one of our most successful clusters and we wish her nothing but the best.
"BOSTON SVP MARK HANNON has agreed to take on the additional responsibility of overseeing our stations in HARTFORD," he continued. "Anyone who knows MARK can attest to his passion for radio. He has guided our Boston operations to a leading position among all broadcasters in the market, and has a solid record of success on both the programming and sales sides of the business. With his leadership, our NEW ENGLAND stations are in good hands for the future."
CARVER previously led CBS operations in LOS ANGELES, CLEVELAND, WEST PALM BEACH, and most recently TAMPA. "He knows our operating philosophy well, and will hit the ground running," HERMAN wrote. "STEVE’s appointment is effective immediately."In LAS VEGAS, TONY PERLONGO "has presided over a period of consistent revenue growth for our six stations in the market. He will continue to lead our LAS VEGAS sales efforts in this newly expanded role effective immediately.
In RIVERSIDE, "MIKE VALENZUELA has gained a tremendous amount of leadership experience during his years at CBS RADIO and is ready to take this next step in his growing career. His oversight of sales will continue to play a key role in the market’s ongoing success."
With VALENZUELA's promotion, effective immediately, current Market Manager HARVEY WELLS has decided to move back to CHICAGO to be closer to his family.
"As part of these changes, JOE BELL (MIAMI), DAVE ROBBINS (ORLANDO), and JERRY MCKENNA (LAS VEGAS) will be leaving the Division," HERMAN concluded. We are grateful for their years of service and the many ways in which they’ve contributed to our success. I know you join me in thanking them for all they’ve done for CBS RADIO."Dave Robbins Bids Adieu
For his part, DAVE ROBBINS sent the following memo to his ORLANDO staff:
As today is my last day at CBS RADIO/ORLANDO, and I want to thank you for the best past five-and-a-half years anyone could ask for!
As we spoke on the first day, you win with people. You have proven that a great team can accomplish fantastic things, and your results through the years speak for themselves. Through all the ups and downs, our team pulled together and always found the way to win, regardless of how large the hurdles.
"You are just getting started, and I know the stations will be even more successful in the years to come.
"It is hard to put into words my gratitude for this team and our company. I would like to thank everyone at CBS RADIO Corporate for the amazing opportunity, the best training in the industry, and a great and exciting run with our brands. Thank you for your outstanding support through that entire time!"
