iHEARTMEDIA has dropped the FM translator simulcast of News-Talk WRVA-A/RICHMOND. W253BI/GLEN ALLEN-RICHMOND is now airing a construction sound stunt fed by the HD2 channel of Alternative WRXL (XL 102). The News-Talk format had been fed to the translator via the HD2 channel of AC WTVR (LITE 98 FM). Look for the new format on the translator and WRXL's HD2 channel on MONDAY (7/27) at 9a (ET).
Meanwhile, on WRVA's FACEBOOK page, commenters are complaining about the stunt, with some upset that they can't get the AM at work and the FM is now gone, while others are asking, "what's with broadcasting jackhammers on your FM frequency? Do all format transitions have to go down like forceful takeovers?" and "The jackhammers are like a unending bad dream." The station's response: "We will be debuting a new station on 98.5FM on MONDAY at 9am. You can still listen to WRVA at 1140 AM and on our free iHEARTRADIO app."
