Sports columnist BERNIE MIKLASZ is exiting the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH after his AUGUST 9th column to rejoin HUBBARD Sports WXOS (101 ESPN)/ST. LOUIS full-time as host. MIKLASZ hosted middays at 101 ESPN in 2009-13 before moving to commentator status, and previously hosted at SIMMONS Sports KSLG-A (TEAM 1380)/ST. LOUIS.
MIKLASZ, who will also write his column exclusively for the station's 101Sports.com website, will air weekdays 7-10a (CT) starting in late AUGUST; the station will cut ESPN RADIO's MIKE AND MIKE IN THE MORNING back to 5-7a. KEVIN WHEELER moves from 9a-noon to 10a-1p, "THE TURN" goes from noon-2p to 1-3p, and "THE FAST LANE" moves from 2-6p to 3-7p to make way for MIKLASZ.
“I’ve always loved sports writing, and I’ve always loved doing Sports radio. What I didn’t like was having to choose between them. This is why I’m so thrilled to join 101ESPN.” said MIKLASZ. “Now I can do it all. Hosting a three-hour weekday show, and writing a multitude of columns for 101sports.com. Being able to serve the passionate ST. LOUIS-area sports fans on two distinct platforms, as a host and a writer. It’s really the best of both worlds. This is an exciting new chapter in my career.”
PD CHRIS "HOSS" NEUPERT added, “We are excited to have BERNIE MIKLASZ join the 101 ESPN team. With the addition of BERNIE, we’re now able to offer our listeners a full day of live and local Sports Talk programming. We’re also thrilled to be the exclusive source for BERNIE’s online content at 101sports.com.”
MIKLASZ joined the POST-DISPATCH in 1985 as NFL writer, leaving to join the DALLAS MORNING NEWS when the CARDINALS moved to ARIZONA in 1988. MIKLASZ returned to the P-D in 1989 as a columnist.
