ALL ACCESSS thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of KEN HOPKINS, PD at MORGAN MURPHY MEDIA Hot AC KZZU (92.9 ZZU)/SPOKANE, who was paralyzed after a bike accident on MONDAY evening JULY 13th.

A GOFUNDME account has been set up to raise money for his treatment.

KEN was out for a ride and remembers every minute of it, with the exception of the last 10 seconds.

"Unfortunately, those last 10 seconds resulted in a life-altering moment," he writes. "As of now, I am left without the use of my legs and I have no feeling from my mid-chest down. I do have full use of my arms, hands and neck muscles and am hopeful for the return of other functions once the damages heal and swelling returns to normal. The last two weeks have been filled with every range of emotions and tears. I have never before found myself in a position where recovery status is not measured by days or weeks, but by months. It will be a long journey just to get myself in a position to function in the world.

"I consider myself very lucky to be surrounded by positive people with support from my family, my radio family and my friends inside and outside of the SPOKANE area. We are very lucky to live in a community with such dedication, caring, devoted and educated health personnel. I consider myself fortunate to have not needed their life-saving help up until now."

"The list of rehab goals are staggering just to be able to reach the #1 goal of transitioning back into my own home, but I do list one of my highest priorites as returning to the morning show and radio station that have been privileged to be part of for the last 30 years. Until then, thank you for your prayers, thoughtful comments and concerns for my family."

The morning 'DAVE, KEN & MOLLY" show will continue in HOPKINS' absence, with plans to reconfigure the studio anticipating his return.

"KEN has been very good for our company and our company has been great for KEN," said a statement released by the station. "KEN is the ultimate team player. He has always done whatever the team has needed to succeed. KEN is a fighter. We hope that the money raised helps transition his life to being independent."

To date, more than half of the projected $20,000 has already been raised.
