CUMULUS Corporate PD BRIAN THOMAS will move from his present post as PD at CUMULUS Country WNSH (NASH FM)/NEW YORK to take over as PD at sister Classic Hits WLS-F/CHICAGO, effective AUGUST 1st.
THOMAS will fill the post left vacant when JAN JEFFRIES transferred to sister Top 40 WRQX/WASHINGTON (NET NEWS 7/15). THOMAS will continue to serve CUMULUS as Corporate Program Director for the Country format, and now adds oversight of Classic Hits for the company.
In a memo to staff, VP/Market Manager PETER BOWEN wrote, "I had the honor of working with BRIAN on several projects while he served as Program Director of WCBS-FM in NEW YORK. His experience and relationships with this format make him an incredible addition to our team."
SVP/Content and Programming MIKE MCVAY said: "BRIAN's performance with CUMULUS, and his prior experience, makes us confident that this is the right move for this station. He knows this format and how to maximize its potential."
THOMAS said, “Every kid from CHICAGO who grew up listening to WLS-F, as I did, dreams of working there. I’m proud that NASH-FM weekly audience hit an all-time high of almost 1.2 million and sales pacing +20% in a down market -- and I’m excited to continue to work with a handful of our Country stations, too.”
Back in NEW YORK, CUMULUS AC WPLJ APD JOHN FOX will become acting PD at WNSH --- a position he held shortly after the stations launch (NET NEWS 4/12/13) – while the search for a permanent PD at NASH FM is conducted.
