CUMULUS Classic Hits WLS-F/CHICAGO morning man JACK DIAMOND is moving on. While DIAMOND is headed back to his hometown, WASHINGTON, DC, there was early speculation that he may be rejoining former WLS-F PD and newly-named Top 40 WRQX (DC's 107-3)/WASHINGTON programmer and CUMULUS SVP/Corporate Programming JAN JEFFRIES.
JEFFRIES commented to ALL ACCESS, "No plans for him at WRQX. We have a strong ensemble in morning drive at DC's 107-3, on target for the direction of the station. We wish JACK the best with his future endeavors."
DIAMOND ended a 24-year run in mornings at WRQX (NET NEWS 4/26/13) and joined WLS-FM for mornings in OCTOBER 2014 (NET NEWS 10/30/14) following a brief stay at MAX-FM/SAN DIEGO.
On JACK's FACEBOOK PAGE, he wrote, "Thanks so much to JOHN DICKEY and MIKE McVAY for the opportunity to hit 2 career highlights in the past year; 1) Live and work in CHICAGO. 2) Host Mornings on WLS. I had an absolute blast! What a great city (I'll be back : ) And what an amazing radio station and incredible staff. BRIAN THOMAS is a terrific guy and wonderful programmer. I'm only sorry we didn't have the opportunity to work together."
