CBS RADIO Country WYCD afternoon personality CHUCK EDWARDS has been tapped for mornings and will succeed DR. DON CARPENTER, who signed off TODAY (NET NEWS 8/5). EDWARDS will be joined by current morning teamers RACHAEL HUNTER and STEVE GRUNWALD, as well as JASON the 200 lb. cowboy.
EDWARDS has co-hosted afternoons with LINDA LEE, as “EDWARDS AND LEE” for the past 16 years on ‘YCD. Before his move to DETROIT, he spent 15 years at CUMULUS Country KSCS/DALLAS.
“CHUCK is a true radio pro and will fit right in with the other members of the morning show,” said CBS RADIO/DETROIT SVP/Market Manager DEBBIE KENYON. “His afternoon show garnered dozens of awards over the years and he is very involved in the community. This is an exciting new chapter in the history of WYCD.”
“EDWARDS AND LEE” were honored with an ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC (ACM) and COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION (CMA) Awards for Best Personality in 2009 and 2011, respectively. The pair is currently among finalists for the prestigious MARCONI AWARD in the Large Market Personality of the Year category..
“What’s not to be excited about?!” asked EDWARDS. “A premier morning show foundation is in place - I'm ready to build on that with RACHAEL, GRUNWALD and JASON and looking forward to this opportunity to evolve my career. However, gotta admit, I will miss those enticing late night infomercials!”
