Promo Only Canada Launches Online Commercial Music Service

PROMO ONLY CANADA and DESTINY MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES today launched CANADA’s first online commercial music service, PROMO ONLY DIGITAL DOWNLOAD SERVICE (www.podds.ca) using the MPE security. This is the first and only commercial online music service to be approved by the Canadian AUDIO-VIDEO LICENSING AGENCY (AVLA), which represents virtually every Canadian record label including UNIVERSAL MUSIC CANADA, WARNER MUSIC CANADA and EMI MUSIC CANADA.

PODDS, which will include rare remixes, extended mixes and other hard-to-find content from major and independent labels, will be targeted towards disc jockeys and other commercial establishments. In the past, it was not legal for disc jockeys and commercial establishments to rip a CD onto a computer and use it for public performance, or use a consumer download service to obtain music for use in public performance. PODDS will offer the first legal option to download individual songs for professional and commercial use.

"Though other music download services are available, they aren’t legal for commercial users," said PROMO ONLY CEO JIM ROBINSON. "PROMO ONLY is the first to develop the only legal music download service in CANADA for disc jockeys and commercial users.
