A lawsuit filed by former GM SEAN O'NEILL and office manager ROSA AMBRIZ against GRUPO RADIO CENTRO LA, LLC, its MEXICO-based parent, and host RICARDO "EL MANDRIL" SANCHEZ as well as 50 unnamed "Does" alleging that they were fired after blowing the whistle on ratings fraud, payola/plugola, and employment of undocumented workers at Regional Mexican KXOS (RADIO CENTRO 93.9)/LOS ANGELES has been moved from CALIFORNIA Superior Court in LOS ANGELES COUNTY to U.S. District Court for the Central District of CALIFORNIA, at the motion of the defendants.
The move was based on diversity of jurisdiction and GRC's contention that SANCHEZ was improperly named as a defendant for purposes of defeating the federal court's jurisdiction.
O'NEILL and AMBRIZ' suit alleges that the defendants took retaliatory and adverse actions against them and subjected them to "ongoing hostility in the work environment ... (and) intolerable working conditions, obstructing other economic and career opportunities for Plaintiffs, engaging in a campaign of character assassination against (O'NEILL) ... and making demeaning remarks and defamatory statements" about him, and wrongfully terminating O'NEILL (now at crosstown MERUELO MEDIA as SVP/Revenue Integration and New Business) and AMBRIZ.
