The sixth installment of TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING Dir./Broadcasting/Programming MATT SAMMON's 10-part series on assembling, launching, and programming the NHL franchise's online-only "LIGHTNING POWER PLAY" radio station has been posted, with the latest edition outlining SAMMON's views on empowering the staff and developing a positive work environment.
Citing his team members by name, SAMMON recognizes the teamwork that led to the channel's success and explains his philosophies on guidance and trust. "Listen to the programming, offer advice when it’s prudent, and trust in the talent to get it right," SAMMON writes. "It’s easy to critique and correct a show, but I also highly endorse patting those who do well on the back." And he likens year one for the channel to a "playground" where ideas were tried and developed, adding that "like the school playground we’ll grow a year older and wiser with each year that passes."
