CBC RADIO ONE series WIRETAP is ending after 11 seasons, creator and host JONATHAN GOLDSTEIN announced TODAY (8/19).
In an open letter to listeners, GOLDSTEIN, a producer on public radio's "THIS AMERICAN LIFE" and author whose show, heard in the U.S. via PUBLIC RADIO INTERNATIONAL and SIRIUSXM and as a podcast, featured comic phone conversations with friends and family as well as audio essays, wrote, "The reasons for this are many, but the simplest way to put it is that 11 years is a long time to do something and it felt like time to try something new. The show has run longer than 'SEINFELD' and 'ALL IN THE FAMILY.' It's run longer than I, or anyone, could have ever imagined."
The show will continue distribution via PRI in the U.S. through JUNE 2016 with a "sendoff season" including classic episodes as well as shows previously not heard in the U.S.
