Entercom Flips WAXY-F/Miami To Alternative As 104.3 The Shark

ENTERCOM has launched a new alternative station in SOUTH FLORIDA. WAXY-F (104.3)/MIAMI, replacing a simulcast of Sports WAXY-A (790 THE TICKET), which remains active on the AM band.

“As the exclusive alternative station in SOUTH FLORIDA, 104.3 THE SHARK will target an audience in the heaviest acquisition years of their lives and our station will be incredibly active in the SOUTH FLORIDA community,” said VP/Market Manager DOUG ABERNETHY.

ABERNETHY has tapped JOHN O’CONNELL as PD of 104.3 THE SHARK. “With a deep history in the SOUTH FLORIDA radio and music scene, JOHN brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will enable us to effectively launch and grow 104.3 THE SHARK,” ABERNETHY said.

O'CONNELL was the long-time OM/PD at former CBS RADIO Alternative WPBZ (103.1 THE BUZZ)/WEST PALM BEACH.  He was most recently PD at CBS RADIO Sports WHFS-F (SPORTS RADIO 98.7 THE FAN) and Sports WHFS-A (CBS SPORTS RADIO 1010)/TAMPA
