Report: Sony To Acquire Hard Rock Indie Century Media

Sources have told MUSIC BUSINESS WORLDWIDE that SONY MUSIC has acquired indie hard rock label CENTURY MEDIA for upwards if $17 million. Founded in GERMANY by ROBERT KAMPFI and OLIVER WITHÖFT in 1988, CENTURY MEDIA boasts acts such as In THIS MOMENT, LACUNA COIL, MOONSPELL, NEVERMORE, SHADOWS FALL, SUICIDE SILENCE and WINDS OF PLAGUE.

With a staff of 50 based in the U.S. and EUROPE, CENTURY also houses MAGIC ARTS PUBLISHING, LONELY PLANET PUBLISHING, INSIDE OUT MUSIC, SUPER BALL, ROCK THE NATION AMERICA and other merchandise and management subsidiaries.

SONY representatives have yet to officially confirm the report.
