The seventh installment of TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING Dir./Broadcasting/Programming MATT SAMMON's 10-part series on assembling, launching, and programming the NHL franchise's online-only "LIGHTNING POWER PLAY" radio station has been posted, with the latest edition focusing on listening to your listeners, and even getting ideas from them.
SAMMON suggests communicating with listeners through social media -- POWER PLAY saw its best results with Twitter -- and using graphics to convey with 140 characters can't. And he relates how his stream changed course from simulcasting a sister station overnight to doing something else entirely, based on a listener's question. He also looks at other social media platforms and talks about what worked, and what didn't, for the LIGHTNING this season.
