ENTERCOM Alternative KRBZ (96.5 THE BUZZ)/KANSAS CITY set a goal of $7,000 on KICKSTARTER to finance a billboard with a message to counter a “homophobic billboard” on a local freeway, according to a story on the 41 ACTION NEWS KSHB-TV website.
The station achieved its goal within an hour, and doubled the amount just two days later.
The radio station says the billboard will have a simple message: “Be Kind.”
REDDIT users have been questioning the station's motives, calling the fundraiser "a blatant PR
The billboard in question is from the local "God’s Word Campaign." The billboard reads: “Homosexuality is sinful behavior.... not an identity. We… simply want to communicate what the Bible says. We do not judge anyone for what they choose to do. On the other hand, God has made clear in the Bible what is right and wrong and it is our desire to warn you if you have chosen sin.”
It wasn't made clear where the billboard funded by the THE BUZZ’s #LoveLonger campaign would go up once the fundraising campaign ends.
