The FLORIDA Bar's referee for the case against three of BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE's attorneys in his defense against a lawsuit by radio rival TODD SCHNITT, retired PINELLAS COUNTY Circuit Judge W. DOUGLAS BAIRD, has recommended that the attorneys be disbarred for their conduct in defending BUBBA, according to ABC affiliate WFTS-TV (ABC ACTION NEWS)/TAMPA.
The lawyers, STEPHEN DIACO, ADAM FILTHAUT, and ROBERT ADAMS, were found guilty of setting up SCHNITT's attorney PHIL CAMPBELL for a DUI arrest that also left DIACO and ADAMS in possession of CAMPBELL's briefcase. The attorneys, all of the ADAMS AND DIACO firm, allegedly set CAMPBELL up on JANUARY 23rd, 2013, when a paralegal for their firm, MELISSA PERSONIUS, spotted CAMPBELL at MALIO'S STEAKHOUSE in TAMPA and, after calling ADAMS, sitting next to CAMPBELL; CAMPBELL and PERSONIUS bought each other drinks, and PERSONIUS relayed their conversation to ADAMS. ADAMS contacted DIACO, who contacted FILHAUT, who called the head of the TAMPA Police DUI unit, Sgt. RAYMOND FERNANDEZ, who had officers follow CAMPBELL after PERSONIUS insisted he move her car rather than leave it overnight with the valet and get a cab.
The recommendation will be sent to the FLORIDA Supreme Court for final determination.
BUBBA is now hosting mornings on BEASLEY Rock WBRN (BUBBA 98.7)/TAMPA. SCHNITT is co-hosting mornings at iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk WOR-A/NEW YORK and his syndicated show for COMPASS MEDIA NETWORKS.
