BEASLEY Sports WBCN-A (CBS SPORTS RADIO 1660)/CHARLOTTE will flip to News-Talk next week. The CHARLOTTE OBSERVER's MARK WASHBURN reports that the change will occur TUESDAY (9/8).
The station will launch the new format as "AMERICA'S PULSE 1660" with a syndicated conservative lineup clearing GLENN BECK, SEAN HANNITY, and LAURA INGRAHAM, plus "THIS MORNING" with GORDON DEAL. Also on the website for the new format are MARK LEVIN, "GROUND ZERO WITH CLYDE LEWIS," and the overnight "RED EYE RADIO."
The flip would be a return to conservative Talk for the expanded band AM station, which aired BECK, HANNITY, and INGRAHAM as "AMERICA'S TALK" in 2009-12; It aired Sports as WFNA, then WBCN, in partnership with sister Sports WFNZ-A (THE FAN) from sign-on in 2003 through 2009, and then as the local clearance for CBS SPORTS RADIO in 2013 through now. The station was part of the swap of stations in CHARLOTTE and TAMPA plus Sports WIP-A (now WTEL-A)/PHILADELPHIA by CBS to BEASLEY for stations in PHILADELPHIA and MIAMI in 2014.
