ALL ACCESS has confirmed that iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk WHO-A/DES MOINES morning host and PD VAN HARDEN is stepping down from his programming/administrative post and will continue co-hosting mornings with BONNIE LUCAS.
HARDEN told staff in an email that he has "decided to retire from the administrative side of my duties as Program Director, while continuing to do the morning show. (Market Manager) JOEL (MCCREA) and I have talked about this for a long time, and I’m honored the company wants me to continue doing mornings." HARDEN cited how "in watching other retirements, I always thought it was a little hokey when the person talked about family and grandchildren. But with 5 grandkids now, and another one the way, I now get it."
HARDEN has been in radio since 1971 at KDLS/PERRY, IA, and after a year in mornings at KWEN/TULSA in 1974, he has been in DES MOINES radio ever since, at KRNT-A for 10 years, then at WHO since 1986 (and as PD since 1987).
