The breakup has been brewing for a while now, and at the beginning of his show today, CBS RADIO Sports WFAN-A-F/NEW YORK afternoon host MIKE FRANCESA made it official: the simulcast of his show on FOX SPORTS 2 will end on FRIDAY (9/11).
FRANCESA, whose simulcast moved from the NEW YORK YANKEES' YES NETWORK to FOX SPORTS 1 in MARCH 2014, was vocally unhappy with the show's treatment at FS1/FS2, first in that the show was split between the channels, then with frequent pre-emptions, and finally for its demotion to FS2 (not carried on as many cable systems and not carried on most in high definition) when COLIN COWHERD's show was added to FS1 this week. In announcing the split, FRANCESA said that he would take the blame for making the move to FS1 and would be negotiating for a new home for the simulcast but that the negotiations will likely take several months.
